Another wonderful trip to Newfoundland has come and gone. Lots of
things to do and lots of people to see. A few feeds of fish and
chips, although we were disappointed to here that Ches's Fish n' Chips on
Freshwater Road had burned down a few weeks previous. There's just
no place in town to get a better feed. Oh well, we'll have to go
there twice the next time we're home.
The weather wasn't the greatest. Mostly cool days. But,
we didn't go home for the weather. We were lucky enough to be home to see
the caplin roll. Rob was out to his waist in the cold Atlantic haulin' in
plenty of fish for everyone. Allie, Susan and Alexandria really got a kick
out of it.
Rob's mom and dad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 5. Rob and
his sisters and brothers threw them a lovely surprise party. Poor Betty
knew something was going on, but just didn't know what. A head count about
half way through the night showed 78 people...lots of friends and family from out of town
and folks they hadn't seem in many years. It was an evening to remember.
