The house is on a fairly large lot, a little over half an acre. The stone
walkway in the front of the house is surrounded by a large stone wall. In
the Summer of 2002 we constructed a round stone patio in the back yard after spending all afternoon
digging through large stones at the quarry in Spencerville.
Rob and Dave built the pergola around the stone patio in the Summer of 2004. They did a
beautiful job. Rob and I (mostly Rob) raked away more of the crushed
stone at the end of the driveway and planted grass seed. It only took
a few weeks for the grass to fill in nicely. Last, but not least, we
used up most of the remaining stones from last years trip to the quarry on
a stone walkway from the back door. Bit by bit we're getting
it the way we want it.
The Summer of 2005 was focused on the front of the house. We decided to cut
down the 2 cedars in front of each window. It looked quite bare at first,
but some landscaping and flowers filled it in nicely.
